2025-2026 Engineering Team
Double the teams, double the ingenuity! For the 2025-2026 season, our engineering crew split up to tackle both the Rube-a-thon and Rube Goldberg competitions. Huge shoutout to our Rube Goldberg team for taking 1st place locally and punching their ticket to West Coast Nationals-where they also brought home the "Didn't Use a Marble or Domino" award for pure, out-of-the-box creativity. So proud of everyone's grit, gears, and chain reactions!
Engineering and Robotics Coach
My name is Katie Schilreff and I have been involved in Engineering competitions at our school since 2018, serving as an Engineering and Robotics coach and teacher. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to lead student teams to local, regional, and national competitions across the United States, including competitions in Chicago, Indiana, and throughout Southern California.
I have a passion for all things STEAM and love creating opportunities for students to explore, build, problem-solve, and compete. My goal is to challenge students to step outside of their comfort zones, try things they have never done before, and discover what they are capable of achieving. Watching students grow in confidence, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance through engineering and robotics is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Our Engineering Club
Myers Elementary STEAM Academy Engineering Club introduces young students to science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math through fun, hands-on activities. Rather than focusing heavily on complex formulas, students learn the Engineering Design Process: asking questions, brainstorming, building, testing, and redesigning their creations when something doesn't work. Myers Scholars have the opportunity to try these skills and their perserverance with an annual competition.
