What is PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Support?

We are dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. The goal is to create a school-wide system to help our students learn the skills they need to succeed socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.  As part of ongoing efforts to enhance our Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) program, the PBIS team created schools' PBIS expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe to provide staff with tools to implement this framework.

PBIS Focus of the Month: Safety

Setting clear learning goals and behavior expectations will develop and strengthen our scholar's social, emotional and academic goals.  Creating a Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) will help parents, scholars, and staff maintain a safe and joyous atmosphere, so scholars may strengthen their social skills as well as improve their performance goals.  Aligning both home and school expectations will reinforce these goals.   Using these techniques listed below will help cultivate a positive intervention system for home and school.

Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI)

PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing behavioral supports and social cultural needs.  Our schools' PBIS expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe is state reviewed annually.  Scholars are actively engaged in promoting a positive school culture.  It's a great way to empower students and staff to take ownership of their behavior and contribute to a supportive learning environment for everyone.

Behavior Management Flow Chart

A behavioral management flow chart is a visual tool that outlines the steps staff should take when responding to student behavior—both positive and challenging—so that everyone follows a consistent process.

🌟 Purpose

The flow chart helps teachers and staff:

Respond consistently and fairly to student behaviors.

Know when to handle behaviors in the classroom and when to refer to the office or administration.

Encourage positive behavior supports before consequences are applied.

Ensures all staff respond consistently, reducing confusion for students.

Supports PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) or similar frameworks.

Helps schools track data on behavior patterns to improve supports.
